Introduces a 3-Dimensional Manipulator System for Remote
Positioning and Radiation Pattern Measurement of Equipment Under Test

Park, Texas – EMC Automation introduces the 3DM-01 3-Dimensional
Manipulator system, a hardware and software solution designed for remote
3-dimensional positioning and pattern measurement of equipment under test.
The 3DM-01 greatly simplifies EMC testing by automating measurement
procedures and positioning from the control room computer.
The
3DM-01 hardware system uses a customer's existing turntable to provide
turn axis information and the 3-D Manipulator to provide elevation
rotation, allowing positioning of equipment under test in polar
coordinates for three-dimensional characterization of the test object. The
3DM-01 is remotely controlled with the EMC Automation SI-300 controller
over fiber optic links, eliminating a potential interference source. The
3DM-01 software component measures 3-dimensional radiation pattern data
and plots data in 3-D and 2-D graphs for analysis.
The
3DM-01 Manipulator provides independent vertical and horizontal
positioning control, with standard positioning accuracy of ±2° (±0.5°
deviation), a rotation angle of 360°, and a rotating speed of 0.5
rev/minute. The 3DM-01 is available in two models that support up to 1 kg
or 10 kg. Dimensions of the 3-D Manipulator are designed to meet customer
test specifications.
